Your Sins Will Find You Out...

It was quite a shock today when the news came across the Internet that New York Governor Elliot Spitzer was implicated in a prostitution ring that is under investigation. I saw his press conference today and no doubt this will end his political career. What is even sadder is that he came to the office of governor with a reputation for honesty and integrity and being a morally good public servant especially during his tenure as New York's Attorney General. Spitzer cleaned up Wall Street and fought organized crime, ironically bringing to justice the very criminal activities that he was alleged to have been involved in. Like Rev. Ted Haggard, who was forced to resign his pastorate at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado for sexual misconduct, Spitzer's actions are now coming back to haunt him. The Bible tells us in the scriptures about the danger of committing willful sin and warns us with these words, "Be sure your sin will find you out." (Numbers 32:23). This scripture is later written in Proverbs 28:13-"He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy." Gods' word is very plain when it speaks of sin. We can't fool God and when we willfully commit sin and try to get away with it, we may fool others but we will never deceive the eyes of the Lord. If there is sin in your heart, confess it to the Lord and pray and ask His forgiveness. Remember 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He (God) is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousnes." Let God touch your life today and receive His forgiveness.
